THE FOREST VOICES TOUR

I had spent a couple of days in the Forest camp at Djamba where I were recording some childrens songs. These had been commissioned by Opportunity Africa for a Baka education project (see a video HERE). Jonny and Clyde filmed the recording session and this morning we made the 9km walk through the forest back to Gbiné to start rehearsals for the tour.

We were nearing our first "official" concert of the tour and had spent the last week or so preparing: band practices, battery charging, building kick drums out of water bottles, projector screens from sheets and for me personally, on my first trip to Cameroon  - having an incredible intensive into Baka life and culture. The first concert was to be tomorrow in the Music House, built by Andi with the help of the Baka - and today the band got together for a final rehearsal. . . .
